Family Friendly Policy: Electric Dance prides itself as a family friendly event. All music and movement should reflect the event and be appropriate for all ages. Any use of swearing in music, inappropriate movement, lyrics, or costuming will be cause for point deduction or disqualification.

Backstage Passes: Are used to identify studio representatives, please wear them at all times.

Entries: Studios are responsible for entering their groups in the correct age and discipline divisions. If this isn't rectified prior to event then this is the responsibility of the dance studio and will not be changed.

Music: All Music is to be brought and played by a studio representative. An Aux cord will be provided, please bring any adaptors required for your device.

Check In: Dancers should be ready backstage 2 numbers prior to their performance time. The competition is not responsible for missed time slots. The competition can be run up to 30 minutes ahead.

Age Divisions, Time Limits, Re-Dances & Props

Age Divisions:
Tiny - 7 & Under
Mini - 8 - 9 years
Junior - 10 - 12 years
Intermediate - 13 - 15 years
Senior - 16 - 17 years
Adult - 18+ years

Time Limits: Solo/Duo/Trio: 2:30 minutes Groups: 4:00 minutes

Re-Dances: For technical reasons such as music system errors, and events out of the performers control re-dances will be allowed at all ages. Re-Dances for performance issues such as prop, costume, shoe, choreography malfunctions will only be allowed in the Mini and Tiny Categories.

Prop Policy: Prop set up/take down for any entry is a maximum of 1 min 30 seconds total. Props are allowed in any category.

Freestyle

Scheduled into the competition there will be an individual freestyle/improvisation competition. This competition will be open to all participants who are entered into the corresponding Electric Dance Event.

Categories Include: Street/Hip Hop, Lyrical, Jazz Contemporary and AcroDance

Age Divisions include: Tiny, Mini, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Adult.

Each category must have a minimum of 2 participant entries to run. Age divisions may be combined at the discretion of EDC.

Numbers will be given out at event sign in with corresponding participants names.

Entries are unlimited per age/category but there will be a maximum of 10 - 12 dancers on the floor at any one time.

Participants will have 30 - 60 seconds to dance to the music provided by EDC.

Participants may be called back to re-dance at the adjudicators request but not required or included in the freestyle competition.

Each age/category will have placements of 1st to 3rd only.

Pre-Registration is encouraged as limited spaces will be available on the day.

SCORING

Disciplines

Jazz: Routine is based in jazz technique and should include elements of kicks, jumps, turns, etc.

Lyrical: Routine expresses emotion using elements of ballet and jazz technique to portray a story, connection, or lyrics.

Song and Dance: Routine must include live singing as well as dancing. No vocals may be recorded on the music track.

Street/Hip Hop: Routine is based in hip hop technique and can include all or one form(s) of street styles including locking, popping, house, etc.

Theatre/Stage: Routine based in dramatization and theatrics in a broadway/theatre style of dance. Lip Sync may or may not be used. No Live Singing.

Tap: Routine based in tap technique. No pre-recorded sounds are allowed on the music track.

Cheer/Pom: Routine derived from cheer with elements of commercial dance, strong execution of precision arm movements, formation changes, and jumps.

Contemporary: Routine based heavily in modern and ballet technique as well as including other techniques. An ever changing genre focusing on contemporary exploration and fusion in dance.

Ballet: Routine is based in classical ballet technique. Can include Character Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Classical Ballet, etc.

AcroDance: A routine based 50% in any style of dance and 50% in acrobatic movements including tumbling, limbers, contortion, balances.

Open: Any routine that does not fit into any of the above genres.

Scoring, Awards and Adjudicating

All adjudications and scores will be sent directly to studios after the end of the competition. All adjudication is final.

Bronze 70 - 74.99
Silver 75 - 79.99
High Silver 80 - 84.99
Gold 85 - 89.99
High Gold 90 - 93.99
Lightning Gold 94 - 100

Deductions: Adjudicators are entitled to deduct up to 6 points per judge per entry. 2 points for inappropriate costuming/appearance. 2 points for inappropriate music selection/swearing. 2 points for inappropriate movements. Adjudicators are also able to recommend that a number be disqualified from placement due to not aligning with Electric Dance’s Family Friendly Policy.

Sportsmanship: Electric Dance takes sportsmanship and the environment we put our dancers in seriously. If any person(s) displays poor sportsmanship directed to other dancers, teachers, event staff, etc. the entry(s) associated with said person(s) may be disqualified. Future entry with Electric Dance Events may also be denied.

Judges Choice Awards: One entry is awarded per judge/per day

In categories of 1 - 5 entries, 1st - 3rd placements will be announced. In categories of 6 - 8 entries, 1st - 4th placements will be announced. In categories of 9 - 10 entries, 1st - 5th placements will be announced. More than 10 entries in a category will be split into two groups.

ABOUT TICKETS

Where can I get tickets? Tickets can be purchased prior to competition online on the Fever website or via the Fever App, available on Google Play and the Apple Store. There is always a small but LIMITED amount of tickets on the door which are sold on a first come first served basis.
Can I purchase tickets at the door? Yes, there is always a small but LIMITED amount of tickets on the door which are sold on a first come first served basis. However, we highly recommend you book your tickets in advance in order to guarantee entry. You can purchase tickets in the Fever App or on the Fever website.
Can I transfer my tickets to another person? Yes, you can transfer your tickets to anyone for free. It is as easy as clicking "Transfer Tickets" on your ticket in the Fever App. Please contact us if you need additional help. Make sure to include your ticket order number.
Do I need to print my ticket? You can find your ticket in the "Tickets" section of the Fever app (you can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play). Please remember to log in with the same login method used to make the purchase.
I can't find my ticket. What should I do? You can view your ticket in the Fever app, within the Tickets section. If you don't have the app installed, you can download it from the Apple Store or Google Play. Remember to log in using the same account that you used when buying the tickets. If you still cannot find your ticket, please contact us.
Can I change the date of my ticket? Are refunds allowed? For this event, all sales are final and tickets can’t be refunded, changed or modified. For more information, please refer to our T&Cs.
